Reading Week 2017

We are delighted to finally open our brand new library. It looks fantastic and will be the envy of all the schools around! It was opened during Reading Week by our author Stephen Davies on Wednesday. There will be an opportunity for each year group to browse the library books on a specific day next week during school and an opportunity for parents to browse with their children between 8.45 and 9 and 3.45 and 4pm. We have another 7,000 of books to come and we will be setting up opportunities for our families to borrow books. We are really excited and we hope you like it. Other exciting reading opportunities were the Readathon, drop everything and read, story telling sessions and BUG CLUB, our new online reading service. I hope everyone enjoyed Oaklands reading week.

Oakland's Gingerbread House Competition

Last term we had a Gingerbread house competition. Children designed their own gingerbread houses on paper and a design from each class was chosen to be created. All our winners created their designs in school. Many thanks to Catherine Phipps for organising this competition and making multiple houses to decorate!
