Parent School Association

What is the PSA?

The Primary School Association charity is Oaklands Primary Schools’ PTA. All parents and carers are automatically members.  We are a registered charity and as a school community we aim to have fun, create a social atmosphere and raise important funds for our school.

Why does the PSA exist?

All the money the community raises is used to enhance our children’s education and their enjoyment of school life. The activities and events that we run have a big impact on improving facilities at our school.  Every parent is an essential component in making this a success and it cannot happen without you!

What kind of events?

Each year the PSA organises Christmas and Summer Fairs, the Spring Disco, a Quiz night, Film nights for adults and children as well as Car Boot sales.

What have we achieved?

We typically raise over £12,000 a year and liaise regularly with the school and Governors to ensure this goes where it is most needed. Last year we were able to create the Wildlife Nature garden but in the past the money raised has been spent on lockers, laptops and tablets, art and maths trollies as well as staging and lighting.  Our current project is raising enough funds for a new school library and the computer system necessary to support this.  The PSA has been able to donate £7500 towards this after a successful Christmas period of fundraising in 2015.  We are hoping to raise the remaining £7500 by the end of the Summer Term 2016.

To continue the fantastic fundraising and wonderful events that have been so enjoyed by the school community, the committee relies on the support from the parent body to volunteer their time and effort. Without this support, many of the events and fundraising is not possible.

How do I get involved?

  1. Look out for the PSA newsletters that are send out with the school newsletter to keep up-to-date with our fundraising events.
  2. Follow us on Facebook: Oaklands PSA
  3. Volunteer to help out at some of the events – email to let us know.
  4. If you have more time to spare, there are various Committee positions and Class Reps positions and we hold an AGM where these are voted in. Again email to find out more.
  5. PSA meetings usually take place on Fridays. Please contact the school office to find out the PSA rep contact for your class to give you further information. Come along to meetings, we are always looking for new people to join us on the committee if you have time or to help out at key events!
